September 9, 2026 Meeting Recap
It’s September Already!
Fourteen members attended our first meeting of the 2026/2027 school year through both our in-person and virtual options.
The Old Stuff
To start, we discussed what Noble PTA has done so far this year (spoiler alert: it’s a lot!)
We had a presence at CHUH districtwide events (Kindergarten Kickoff and the Back to School Resource Fair), participated in events right here at Noble (Meet the Teacher, Curriculum Night, and the Clap Out for Ms. Fucci and Ms. Alexis, who have been reassigned to Canterbury Elementary), and had the pleasure of working with community organizations (by taking part in the Chalk Cheers event that Noble Neighbors hosts each year and meeting with Green Noble.)
We presented our first event of the year, our annual Ice Cream Social, which was a big hit!
Our President, Irene Fischer, created the Noble Quick Reference Guide, which families and caregivers can use to get helpful information about the school. She also made sure that each staff member started the year with coffee and a personalized goody bag!
Principal’s Report
Next, it was time to hear the principal’s report from Mr. Walker. He reflected on the tragic losses Noble has suffered in recent months, as two of our students passed away in separate incidents. We heard about how the office has been adjusting to no longer having a vice principal (since Mrs. Barrett is now principal at Roxboro Elementary) and welcoming Dr. Watson as a new leader in the building. Mr. Walker was pleased to report that in the 2025/2026 school year, Noble achieved goals for reduced office referrals and chronic absenteeism. He also explained the various components that go into the state report card, which saw Noble succeeding in some areas and leaving room for improvement in others.
The New Stuff
Attendees reviewed and approved official policies for our PTA relating to social media, conflicts of interest, and ethics/code of conduct. President Irene Fischer explained that the PTA bylaws will be updated to reflect incoming officer changes. We discussed the upcoming Book Fair, which will be taking place from 10/5 to 10/9 (if you’d like to volunteer, please signup!) and we heard that applications for Teacher Mini-Grants will start going out next week.
Treasurer’s Report
Our Treasurer, Marie Weston, led us in talking about the money! We will be voting on our budget next month, and we’re starting the year with a budget of $7847.79. PTA has committed to contributing $1500 to each of the three After School Enrichment sessions, but we expect to get some of that money back from registration fees.
We’re also hoping to increase what we spend on celebrating our teachers and staff, because they deserve to be honored all throughout the year and not just during Staff Appreciation Week!
One PTA member, who asked to remain anonymous, donated $1000 to be used specifically for honoring our staff.
Tiger 5K Fundraiser Earnings
We were glad to hear that last spring’s 5K fundraiser netted $26,173 for the district. While the exact amount each school’s PTA will receive has not been calculated yet, it is estimated that each PTA will get between $1,700 and $1,800.
New Fundraisers
The Kindness Fundraiser
This year, we’re going to try something new (and less sugary than cookie dough!) The Kindness Fundraiser will run for two weeks starting on Monday, 9/14, when each student will receive their own Boarding Pass. As long as a parent or caregiver fills out their Boarding Pass and sends at least ten texts and/or emails to family and friends, the student will win an awesome Cookie Blanket (even if they don’t raise any money!)
Students will then be invited to fill out a Passport by completing various acts of kindness. Each student who completes their passport will be entered into a raffle to win one of fifty prizes from our mystery prize box. And students who raise at least $35 will also be entered into a separate raffle, where they can win one of twenty Squish Dumplings. As a special bonus, any student or sibling group who raises at least $150 will receive a Monster Pillow to go with their Cookie Blanket.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 from this fundraiser.
Box Tops for Education
We are asking families to download the Box Tops for Education app. By simply scanning your physical or digital receipts, you can help our PTA earn money. So far, we’ve earned almost $80, with a goal to raise $500 this year.
CHUH Levy
This Fall, voters in our district will decide whether or not to approve a levy that will prevent further cuts to our children’s schools. The district is urging eligible parents and caregivers to vote YES on Issue 3 on or before November 3rd. Not sure if you’re registered to vote? Find out here!
Times are tough for lots of families right now, and we understand that many people are worried about rising costs. However, if the levy passes, CHUH homeowners will only have to pay about $18 more per month for every $100,000 that their home is worth.
The CHUH chapter of Parents United for Public Schools (PUPS) is helping with efforts to educate voters about the levy. Anyone who would like to help is invited to join the next CHUH PUPS zoom meeting at 6:15pm on 9/15. Email Joanna at joannamcregan@gmail.com if you would like the link to join!
Upcoming Events
There’s lots to look forward to. Be sure to add the following events to your calendar!
Grandparents Day will take place at Noble outside Door 4 from 8:15am to 8:45am on Monday, 9/14.
Noble will celebrate the annual Father’s Walk outside Door 4 from 8:15am to 8:45am on Thursday, 9/17.
Green Noble will be hosting a neighborhood cleanup at Roanoke Community Park (2551 Noble Rd, Cleveland Heights, OH) from 9am to 12pm on Saturday, 9/19
Families are invited to Meet the Police at the Cleveland Heights Recreation Center (1 Monticello Blvd, Cleveland Heights, OH) from 6pm to 8pm the first Thursday of every month.
Students and families are welcome to join the official Noble Elementary float in the Heights Homecoming Parade on the afternoon of Friday, 10/2. Ralph Ortiz has volunteered to let us use his truck for the float as we look forward to celebrating this year’s theme, Just a Kid from the Heights.
Our Book Fair will be taking place during the school day from 10/5 to 10/9. We’re looking for volunteers, so if you would like to help, please sign up!
Our next PTA meeting will take place from 7pm to 8pm on Wednesday, 10/14.
