Noble Elementary PTA
October 14, 2026 Meeting Recap
Happy October!
Our second PTA meeting of the school year featured some exciting updates and meaningful conversations.
The Old Stuff
We started off by reflecting on things that had happened since September’s meeting. The Grandparents’ Day and Fathers’ Walk celebrations both went great. Several PTA members helped out with the Green Noble park cleanup project. Noble was well represented in the Heights Homecoming Parade (special thanks to Ralph for using his truck for the float!) And of course, we held our Fall Scholastic Book Fair!
During the Book Fair, fifteen teachers filled out wishlists and each of these teachers received two books courtesy of the PTA (with beautiful handwritten name tags that Pearline made!) We spent $1162.72 and made back $1484.74 in Scholastic Bucks, which can be used to make purchases on behalf of teachers and students. This means we will have more to spend next time! While we did experience a few incidents of students damaging merchandise, Ms. Wallace suggested putting items that include toys behind a case and we are excited to implement this idea in the Spring Book Fair.
We also discussed communication. An important note: right now, Noble PTA is not able to log in to our Class Dojo account. If you need to get in touch with the PTA, please email rather than sending a message through Dojo.
Principal's Report
Mr. Walker shared about the strides Noble is making in early literacy. This month, third grade students will take their first round of OSTs, while fifth graders will work hard to uphold the Progress testing complement. Our chronic absenteeism rate is lower than it was this time last school year. Mr. Walker is collaborating with other members of our school community to support and uplift children who need extra help with their behavior, as most office referrals are coming from the same students. Field trips have started, with more coming up soon. And Trunk or Treat will be taking place on October 30th, with a friendly competition to see which classroom can collect the most candy donations (as determined by weight this year, rather than bags.)
New Business
15 Noble fourth and fifth graders are preparing to sing in the Heights High production of Little Shop of Horrors. These students and their families have been invited to watch a screening of the Little Shop of Horrors film at Cedar Lee Theaters on October 25th. Noble PTA has agreed to help fund this event.
We will also be helping to fund Afterschool Enrichment. The hope is that by lowering registration fees, more children will be able to participate.
Thirteen teachers submitted requests for mini-grants. PTA funds these mini-grants to help teachers fulfil visions for their classrooms and make the learning experience better for students. All of the current mini-grant requests will be funded.
We discussed the future of Snowflake Shop, which has been a weeklong service project where PTA members purchase, wrap, and bring holiday gifts to school so students can buy low-cost items for their families. PTA reimburses members for their purchases (although some members have generously declined reimbursement.)
After reviewing the budget, we realized that Snowflake Shop has been eating up funds in a way that will prevent us from doing some of the other fun things we have planned if we continue running it the same way beyond this year. So, we’ve begun discussing alternatives for the 2027/2028 school year. One option could be to host a holiday party instead. We could also partner with a company called Tri-C Distributors, who would source merchandise for us (although we would still need volunteers to help children shop and wrap gifts.)
This year, Snowflake Shop will run as it always has. If you have already shopped for items, please email PTA ASAP so that you can get reimbursed. Snowflake Shop will run from 12/14 through 12/18, so mark your calendars if you plan on volunteering! If this does end up being the last year for Snowflake Shop, any gift items that we have left over will be raffled off at future PTA events.
CLC Update
Ms. Threatt told us what we could expect for the October 16th Fall Fest (and spoiler alert: it ended up being a great event with tasty food and games that the kids loved!) Fall After School Enrichment starts on 10/26 and signups are currently open for the six activities that will be taking place this session. With cold weather approaching, there are still coats left over from the Operation Warm giveaway, so reach out to Ms. Threatt if you would like a free coat for your student.
Treasurer’s Report
We ended September with a balance of $8379, which doesn't include any of the money we raised from our fundraiser.
Speaking of the fundraiser…
We decided to try something new this year and partnered with Raise Above It for the Kindness Fundraiser. 125 participating students and their families raised $7833.09 in 2 weeks. From that total, Noble PTA will get to keep $5091.51, exceeding our $5000 goal. Mrs. Hui’s class raised the most and will get to enjoy a special party. Mr. Walker will be slimed (twice) during two assemblies which will take place on Thursday, November 19th. Top earners will get to help administer the slime!
But while our big fundraiser was a success, we're not stopping there. The Box Tops for Education Program allows families to earn money for PTA just by scanning digital or printed grocery receipts. Please download the Box Tops app if you have not already done so!
We have been looking for more ways to raise money from the wider community, and are considering doing a bake sale/cookie walk at the Community Center this Winter.
CHUH PTA Updates
The CHUH PTA held a 50/50 raffle at the Browns game and Noble contributed more volunteers than any other school in the district! Now they are holding a food drive from October 19th through November 13th.
November 14th will be the Junk In the Trunk Crafters’ Market and Community Garage Sale. The district PTA will be offering $20 vendor booths to raise money for scholarships. Nothing Bundt Cakes will be offering $7 cakes, and there will be a GoodWill truck collecting donations as well.
The PTA Membership Drive is coming up. This year, students are invited to join! When signing up, students are not required to enter an email address, but they must still pay $8 plus tax for the annual membership fee.
Possible Playground Improvement
Towards the end of the meeting, we discussed a teacher request for new playground equipment. President Fischer had been directed to speak with Mr. Gillford from the district, who told her that currently the district does not have the funds to purchase new playground equipment for Noble. He advised that if Noble PTA can raise money to purchase new equipment, we could donate it to the district, and the district would then take on liability for it. We discussed asking the city of Cleveland Heights to help with financing since the playground operates as a community park outside of school hours. We also talked about the possibility of dedicating a playground addition to the two Noble students who passed away in 2026.
Our next PTA meeting will take place on November 11th. We’d love to see you there, either virtually or in person!
